“Kulturdocs” Webinar

The ASPJ, in conjunction with FestivALT, presented a compelling webinar about KulturDocs – a new online documentary series, produced by FestivALT, which explores the vibrant world of contemporary Jewish artists in Poland.

Jewish Historical Institute Presentation

At the Glen Eira Town Hall Theatrette in Melbourne, the ASPJ was honoured to present an evening with Dr. Michał Trębacz, Acting Director of the Żydowski Instytut Historyczny (the Jewish Historical Institute) in Warsaw.

20th Century Jewish Polish Composers Concert

At the Kadimah Theatre in Melbourne, the ASPJ hosted a concert of works by Friedman and Weinberg, twentieth century Jewish-Polish composers. The performance featured artists Karolina Mikołajczyk and Iwo Jedenecki.

In conjunction with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Australia, the ASPJ was extremely pleased to host the screening of “Polmission – Passports’s Secrets” at the newly-renovated Melbourne Holocaust Museum.

ASPJ Genealogy Open Days 2023

In 2023, the ASPJ held its Genealogy Open Day in both Sydney and Melbourne, featuring special guest, Polish genealogist and historian, Michał Majewski, who provided the audience with valuable research information.

ASPJ and JCCV Hold Inaugural Circle Social Club Function

The first Circle Social Club function, held on 5th November 2022, at the Czech Club in Melbourne, was a night of jazz music, featuring performers Lisa Marmur, Adrian Whyte and Trent McKenzie. It was a night of music, conversation and entertainment.

New Polish Honorary Consul-General in Victoria Appointed

Andrzej Soszyński has been appointed as the new Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Victoria. He commences his mission on 16th February 2021. He is a past president of the Polish Association in Hobart, prior to moving to Victoria.

ASPJ President in Conversation with JCC Kraków Executive Director

ASPJ President, Ezra May, featured in an online conversation with Executive Director of the Kraków JCC, Jonathan Ornstein. Their discussion includes the history and composition of Australia's Jewish community and the role that the ASPJ plays within it.

Dr George Łuk-Kozika OAM Retires as Honorary Consul-General in Victoria

On 27th September 2020, after twenty five years of service, Dr George Łuk-Kozika OAM steps down from his role as Honorary Consul-General of the Republic of Poland in Victoria. He was the first recipient of the ASPJ's Henryk Sławik Award.

The ASPJ Partners with FestivALT

It is with great excitement and anticipation that the ASPJ has entered into a partnership with FestivALT, an independent, arts collective which produces a program of critically-acclaimed, Jewish art and activism in Kraków, Poland.

It was with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of Marian Pawlik OAM, President of the Polish Community Council of Victoria and great friend of the ASPJ. Rest in peace Marian. Shalom chaver! May your memory be a blessing to all who knew you.

For the past eleven years, Bernard has served the ASPJ as its Founding President, President, Co-President, Vice-President and Board member. However, he has felt that now was the right time for him to step down and allow others to take the reins.
